About the program
A shared mission for a flood-safe Accra
The AMA Drainage & Vegetation Guardian System is the Accra Metropolitan Assembly's official community resilience platform. It transforms flood prevention from a government-only responsibility into a shared responsibility carried by every household, school, business, church, mosque, NGO and youth group in our city.
Core objectives
- Encourage citizens and organizations to become Drainage Guardians.
- Reduce drainage blockages and overall flood risk.
- Promote urban greening and vegetation restoration.
- Track community resilience actions and reward positive contributions.
- Generate real-time flood resilience data for AMA decision-making.
- Create friendly competition among neighborhoods, wards and submetros.
- Improve public ownership of drainage infrastructure.
Built on FloodSafe Ghana
The platform is built on the FloodSafe Ghana stack by EcoIntent. It is designed to be deployed first across Accra and then scaled to other Ghanaian cities.
